Humans Are Far More Complicated than They Have a Right to Be

By

For something that breathes automatically,
heals its own wounds,
and learns to walk without instruction…
we make living remarkably difficult.

We feel too much.
Or not enough.

We misunderstand each other
and then misunderstand ourselves
for misunderstanding.

We build entire internal worlds
no one else can see,
and then wonder
why we feel alone inside them.

We want to be known,
but struggle to explain.

We want to be understood,
but fear being seen too clearly.

We carry histories in our bodies,
reactions in our nervous systems,
and meanings in our words
that even we don’t fully grasp.

And still…

we keep trying.

Trying to connect.
Trying to make sense.
Trying to soften something
that was never designed to be simple.

Perhaps that is the quiet truth of it:
Humans were never meant to be easy.

Only…

deep.
