Love Thyself

Love. What leads us to believe we don’t deserve it?

We all have our own personal journeys that may have landed us at the conclusion we aren’t worthy of love.

I am here to say yes, you are.

Everyone is worthy of love.

My own journey in life made me believe I was unlovable. Without going into details, some people made me feel small, less than, and worthless.

But I am worthy of being loved because I have so much to offer. I am a good mother. I have compassion and empathy. I can spot patterns and help with regulation. I advocate for my children and always will.

I am an incredible romantic partner. I care, I listen, I am tender, and I can be very humorous.

Friendship with me is like being little again. I bring joy, magic, wonder and sparkle. There is laughter and hours of talking.

In general, I am kind, gracious, emotionally intelligent and eccentric. I will give useful advice and small trinkets I find as tokens of my love — like a penguin offering a pebble.

It has taken me a long time to fall in love with myself. There is an unspoken rule that it is wrong to love ourselves, as if doing so makes us narcissistic.

That is not true.

The narrative “you love yourself” meant in a negative way deserves only one response — yes I do, and I am so much happier for it.

The best love is the love we give ourselves.
