The rain falls beyond my open window. A summer breeze slips through the room to keep me cool.
This is where I lose myself—in deep thought, in profoundness, in feeling.
Only a year ago I could not see my future. Five years ago, I wasn’t truly living.
Today, I sit in quiet awe, watching rain kiss warm earth, breathing in that impossible scent of summer becoming wet.
I am living. I am present. I am noticing.
I am I again.
How beautiful it is, simply to exist—to witness the universe in all its vastness, its quiet infinities.
It took so much strength to arrive here.
Now, I live for curious magpies, for sunsets, for beautiful places, for moments that ask nothing of me except that I notice them.
I no longer wish to be somebody else.
The war with myself is over.
I will never again trade my soul for someone else’s idea of who I should be.
I live for myself now.
Outside, my wind chime tinkles softly, reminding me
to stay here.
My story isn’t finished. There is still music waiting to be discovered. Another chapter waiting to be written.
And strength, hard won, still left to share.
